Hotel VS Temporary Housing

Hotel or Temporary Housing? It’s a decision you may have to make after something happened to your house and you have to relocate.

In the past 12 months, the COVID-19 pandemic and several natural disasters have dramatically increased the need for relocation services. People have suddenly found themselves in the market for temporary housing to quarantine themselves and protect their loved ones from Covid-19. Many others have needed to find temporary accommodations because unexpected and unprecedented storms damaged their homes. The two options people in these situations have are hotels and temporary housing. Let’s look at the advantages and disadvantages of the two options.

Hotel:

If something unfortunate happens, and you need to leave your home, your insurance company may quickly place you and your family into a hotel. In a hotel, you can expect standard hospitality services, security, and environment. People appreciate hotel life’s predictable nature and like the extra entertainment and recreational opportunities they might have.

Temporary Housing:

While hotels do have certain advantages, there is still a huge demand for short-term residential housing. There are several reasons for this. In recent years, the temporary housing industry has developed and become very sophisticated. Reputable short-term housing suppliers can now offer residential choices that rival hotels in their level of luxury and amenities. Professional temporary housing suppliers regularly equip their homes with the latest appliances and security systems. They hire professional cleaning teams to make sure the house is always immaculate and welcoming for arriving guests.    https://unsplash.com/photos/Wr3comVZJxU?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditShareLink

Temporary accommodations are also typically more family and pet-friendly compared with hotels. A single-family house provides enough space for you and your family to enjoy your time together. It also provides enough room for family members to have time away from one another when they want it.  Most hotels have restrictions on pets, and your furry family members may not be able to stay with you.

In a hotel, you live close to others, and privacy is difficult. In a house, you can maintain a distance between your family and the neighbors. This advantage is especially desirable during the present COVID-19 pandemic. People hope to stay away from others for safety reasons.

In conclusion, we do think hotels have some advantages, but as the temporary housing industry continues to develop, these advantages may gradually shrink. A good temporary housing supplier can provide customers with professionally managed properties with clean, tasteful living environments just like hotels offer.  They can also give people family and pet-friendly locations that provide them with space and privacy too.

Tour Our Properties During COVID-19

The Month2Month team is passionate about bringing the best viewing experience to our guests no matter what. Innovating new solutions is in our DNA, and in light of the pandemic’s challenges, we are continuing with both in-person and remote tours by appointment and will ensure safe property tour even in the pandemic.

Self-Guided or Virtual Tour:

For those who would like to limit face-to-face interaction, we are also pleased to offer Self-Guided or Virtual Tours. Our sales team is leveraging the latest technology, fast internet connection and powerfully engineered systems to keep our properties open for viewers who wish to do so remotely.

In-Person Tour:

We deeply understand that nothing can replace an in-person viewing experience, especially for the most serious potential renters who need to accommodate their families’ needs. This is why we have chosen to resume in-person tours with the requirement that everyone wears a mask and follows the proper safety measures.

We follow a specific plan to make this happen, which includes:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all of our properties
  • Providing sanitation products for home viewers to use
  • Limiting viewer groups to a maximum of 3 per day for each property
  • Ensuring staff wear masks and PPE in the workplace

We also have protocols set in place for each home viewer, including:

  • Maintaining six feet of physical distancing between unrelated persons
  • Wearing face masks throughout the tour
  • Using hand sanitizer or washing hands immediately upon entry
  • Avoiding touching surfaces of the shown property, including knobs, faucets, toilets, light switches, garage door remote buttons, and other such items

Please be advised that anyone who is currently afflicted with or exposed to COVID-19 should not enter the property. This includes people who have tested positive within the last 14 days, been in contact with someone afflicted with COVID-19, and anyone presenting with symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing not to enter the property.

We are working hard to keep the market open and allow renters the opportunity to find their desired homes. Our virtual tours are available for each property, and our sales team is getting quite creative too. They now use a range of apps, such as Facetime, WhatsApp, WeChat, or Line, to accommodate our remote guests’ diverse backgrounds and their unique preferences for viewing homes in real-time. We always want to welcome our guests to experience our beautiful inventory but a safe property tour will be our first propriety

Growing Through Challenges

We still remember vividly when the pandemic first hit. All the travel restrictions and shelters were put in place, and we realized immediately that this would be an unprecedented challenge for the global mobility market as a whole. For Month2Month, our business is closely tied with the rapid change of the mobility market and Month2Month’s ability to rapidly adapt is critical.

Luckily, back then, we already had most of our houses occupied with families who had longer-term housing needs. We were also able to maintain and cater to the vital needs of insurance relocation. With our devoted investors’ support, we were able to expand our inventory to quite a few new locations outside California such as Texas, Florida, Nevada, Oregon and West Virginia.

During the slow season, we didn’t just sit idle or choose the lowest hanging fruit. Instead, we focused on streamlining our operational procedures – from Finance, HR and Product Management to Sales Outreach focused on investing in our people.

For example, we provided employees with opportunities to develop cross-disciplinary expertise. By rotating the staff through various departments, learning on the job has been made easy, and the excitement in the workplace got generated naturally. Our sales team now offers a fresh perspective to our property maintenance manager, and our property maintenance team finds it exhilarating to observe how the marketing process works.

For example, our sales veteran Ashley has been with the company for five years and in her own words: “2020 is the year when I saw myself growing professionally fastest and become a better version of myself surprisingly during the pandemic!”.

But what really keeps us afloat and even thriving in the past year is the unswerving devotion from our loyal employees. We didn’t scale back or let anybody go due to the pandemic. Instead, we were able to maintain all the jobs by instituting temporary pay cuts. We appreciate every team member – from CEO to ground level contractors who were making sacrifices to help our business weather the industry recession. We have doubled our business staff since last year, and we are still actively hiring! Everything we have experienced in the past 12 months proves to the industry and our investors that we are resilient and Month2Month’s ability to rapidly adapt will continuously guide us in our future adventure.

Temporary Housing Market Has Never Been Hotter

As we all know the supply of single family properties for mid-term rental varies drastically among different cities. The demand never balances the supply in some locations.  For the temporary housing relocation market, we are competing with Sixteen Million customers in the U.S. today who rent a single-family home.

While the insured clients are waiting so anxiously in the small hotels, the available house options are so limited that your competitors are working around the clock to search and bid. Even if you are lucky enough to finally find a house owned and maintained by private owners or “mom and pop” landlords, you start to worry their lack of systems and procedures create huge headaches for your Customer Experience and Accounting team.

Bringing this new asset class to a functioning operational scale is never easy. As an institutional firm with 10 years in the single-family rental space, Month2Month is very proud of our seasoned processes and metrics in place from our years of partnership experience providing premium insurance and temporary housing for you folks. To help destress you a little bit, we’d like to announce we found the following properties in the most competitive locations and please be prepared for matching your needs far ahead of your competition!

San Dimas, California is Ideal for Relocation

San Dimas is a lovely city where many people who find temporary housing there will end up adoring it so much that they wonder why they haven’t explored it sooner.  Southern Californians who are familiar with major cities and noisy tourist towns know the true character lies inside its smaller cities and towns. For working professionals with a remote work mode now, families who look for a temporary home and need good schools for their kids, or adventurous couples who just need a change of scenery in a laid-back environment, Month2Month highly recommend giving San Dimas a try for relocation. It is an underrated gem full of parks, equestrian vibes and plenty of local history.

Month2Month’s Temporary Housings in Houston

Month2Month is thrilled to announce that we now have temporary housings in Houston.

Houston

“Space center”, “Houston Zoo”, “NASA”, “the fourth largest city in the country by population”,  “aggressive driving culture” and “Tex-Mex restaurants” are just a few factors on everyone’s lips when people think of Houston, such an impressive major city.

Surprisingly, Houston is the most ethnically diverse metropolitan area in America— more diverse than New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago. That’s because no other city has as equal of a distribution as Houston does of the four major ethnicities found in the United States. It is truly a minority-majority city. More than 90 languages are spoken in the Houston metro area, though the most common are English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Known as home to happy growing families, Fort Bend County 30 miles southwest to Downtown Houston is complemented by consistent good weather, a variety of dining and retail options, open green spaces, and numerous family attractions. The county has also been named one of the safest in the US, and it is a regional leader in household income.

Holidale Rentals Location

Our two brand new properties are in the Sienna Plantation, Missouri City are just a few minutes away from the metropolitan area. The top-selling community nationwide provides the perfect mix of amenities and wide-open spaces perfect for family relocation needs. With the quiet, well-kept neighborhoods, exceptional schools, 100 acres of parks and proximity to Houston,  it is the ideal place for families who look for temp housing solutions.

Irvine CA is Ideal for Insurance Housings Placements

We had to show you why you should provide our Irvine housing options to meet your insurance clients‘ relocation needs, even BEFORE they realize it themselves. As we had quite a few success cases of families who resided in other cities and chose to relocate here in amazing Irvine California, we would like to introduce you Irvine as a perfect place for relocation and invite you to consider us to provide insurance housings to your clients.

Orange County is the smallest county by area in Southern California and it is easy for people across the regions to commute and move without a hassle.  However, Orange County is sometimes divided into northern and southern regions, where the significant political, demographic, economic and cultural distinctions make some residents reluctant to relocate to other cities, even if it only means ten minutes of driving away.

Orange County is also the second most densely populated county in the state with more than 3 million residents and understandably strong insurance and corporate relocation needs. Located in the center of South OC, Irvine boasts the unparalleled convenience of a 15-minute drive to any other OC city. It is known for its stunning landscape, dynamic retail destinations, thriving economy and award-winning school district. Irvine provides residents with an unparalleled quality of life especially for families with young kids. One of our current guests staying in Irvine was relocated last year from Fullerton, northern Orange County and had even their first newborn girl here in our nice property! We also had the disappointing experience of meeting a family from Laguna Niguel who preferred to get stuck in hotel rooms in the same area over spacious single-family rentals in Irvine.

One of the best parts of living in Irvine is your proximity to any other city in Orange County and the most popular hiking trails, parks and nature preserves, which we believe the insured families appreciate, a great relaxation from their stressed situations with the complicated insurance claim process and small hotel rooms.

Contact Us! If you have any needs for insurance housings in Irvine, we always have the perfect inventory in the perfect locations!

Furnished Temporary Housing is Perfect for Group Retreat!

Your online writer’s group is planning its annual retreat. Your friends from high school are getting together to plot your 25th reunion. Whether your group is going away together or coming together from different locations all across the country, someone is usually in charge of finding a place for everyone to stay. Booking a block of hotel rooms for a family reunion might seem like the easiest way to have everyone at the same place, but a Month2Month furnished temporary housing is more cost effective, offers better space for group interaction and allows you to cater more effectively to special requests or needs.

Efficient Cost

A furnished temporary housing usually costs less per bedroom than hotels with comparable luxury and amenities would cost. For example, you can book an 8-bedroom rental home in Kissimmee, Florida, at Month2Month for as low as $509 per night during the off-season and as high as $856 during the busy season. Even a modestly priced string of eight hotel rooms is going to cost you well over $1000, no matter what time of the year it is. When it comes to accommodation costs for a crowd, the furnished temporary housing is the clear winner.

Ideal Space

A successful group retreat requires a delicate balance of group time and solitary time for the participants. This is especially important if group members do not know each other very well or are only familiar with each other in regards to the one thing they have in common, such as their love of writing or their family history. Unlike a group of hotel rooms, your Month2Month furnished temporary housing features both indoor and outdoor common areas where everyone can gather without being crowded while still offering private areas where people can take a break from the group when they need to recharge.

Special Requests

It is difficult enough to pick a restaurant that everyone will like when you are only making plans for your family of four. This challenge can become downright daunting when you are trying to please a larger group. Renting a furnished temporary housing home solves a large portion of this issue. With a full kitchen at your disposal, you can plan meals that take everyone’s preferences into account. A kitchen also makes it easier to accommodate any special dietary needs that members of your group might have. With our Month2Month furnished temporary housing,

you can more easily take control of your group’s meals.

3 Ways to Save Money by Renting a Vacation Home

Planning a family vacation can be overwhelming, particularly when you start adding up how much it is going to cost. There are surprising ways to save money, however, that might not be on your radar. Believe it or not, staying at a Holidale vacation rental instead of in hotel rooms can save you quite a bit of money on your vacation. You can spend less money per room, cut your diningexpenses extensively and even save money on entertainment.

Room Expenses

You may be thinking that there is no way a vacation home is less expensive than a hotel. Search for vacation homes online, and you might find that the relative cost of renting a home is a delightful surprise. For example, let’s say your family wants to go on a beach vacation to California. You can rent a 2-bedroom home in Irvine, California, from holidale.com for $247 a night. A midgrade hotel with typical amenities is going to cost you at least $150 per room, so you can save $53 a night or more by booking the Holidale vacation rental. Your family gets more space and comparable perks for a better price.

Food Expenses

Dining costs are often the most alarming items on the vacationer’s budget. Who knew that something as simple as basic sustenance could drive up the overall cost of your getaway so dramatically? Dining out is fun, but if your family is going out for every meal while you are away, food could be the expense category that ends up costing you the most. If you rent a vacation home, however, you have the saving grace of a kitchen. Access to a kitchen in your Holidale vacation rental allows you to plan many of your meals and snacks frugally, making the meals you eat in restaurants the special occasions they ought to be instead of just one more thing you have to buy.

Entertainment Expenses

When your family stays in a hotel, you might feel pressured to draw up a busy itinerary, full of activities and events, most of which will cost something. After all, you are not going on a trip just to sit in a boxy room and watch television. Your vacation home, however, is more likely to be set in a community, where you can enjoy relaxed (and free) activities like scenic walks around the neighborhood or reading while having a cup of tea on the patio. Your Holidale vacation rental gives you plenty of space to unwind right there in the house.

When you are making vacation plans, it is okay to give your wallet a vacation, too. Booking a vacation home through holidale.com can be just the break your budget needs.
